!!!!! Tutorial.campaign This campaign introduces the feature of the Orne Archives, select it to work through the features of the app. (two buttons on log screen, swipe and tap, how to add templates) While the Orne Archives is designed to make logging and showing your plays of Arkham Horror easier, I do [strong]not[/strong] suggest you use the Orne Archives for your very first play through of any campaign. The most obvious reason is that the templates may contain errors or not include errata (particularly for new campaigns). Another reason is that the Archives may contain (minor) spoilers (more on that later when we talk about log entries). Finally, occasionally, there will be nuances in the original campaign guides which cannot be replicated in this system. [br][br] The purpose of this campaign is to introduce you to the basic features of the Orne Archives. Template writers determine which features to include in their campaign templates and the order to include them. However, how you interact with these features will not change. [br][br] Log files are saved immediately after you make a choice, so you do not need to worry about saving the log file when you leave it.
At the top of this screen
On the left is a “<Logs” button that allows you to leave this log and return to the list of log files. [br][br] On the right is an “Edit” which allows you to name this log and to add some description to it. This will make it easier to distinguish logs in the list if you are running multiple campaigns at a time.
At the bottom of this screen
On the left is an “Undo” button that will undo your last choice. There is no automatic “Redo” option (yet). [br][br] In the middle is a “Chaos” button which allows you to draw a chaos token from within the app. [br][br] On the right is a “Share” button. This will allow you to email this log to yourself. You will receive two files: an html file (suitable for posting somewhere to log your adventure) and an ornelog file which can be reimported and continued to be played in this app. One of the first things you will do is to select the campaign investigators. These investigators will be available for the scenarios in the campaign. You should be allowed to choose new campaign investigators between scenarios in case of death or insanity. You can also assign a player’s name to each investigator, but this is not required. Currently, once they are set, player names cannot be changed (yet). [br][br] You cannot continue without selecting at least one investigator. You should select at least one investigator now and then tap “No More Investigators”. After selecting investigators, you may need to decide the difficulty level of your scenario which will affect the contents of the chaos bag. Select any difficulty now. You can use the Investigator’s Notebook to add log entries. This is useful for log entries that arise from player or encounter cards or if you just want to document something that happened during your adventure. You do not need to use the Notebook for log entries that arise from scenario resolutions in the campaign guide, as these should be handled by the Archives when you resolve a scenario (more on that later). [br][br] Although you can type log entries into the notebook, but because the Archives will search the log for exact matches to specific text in order to decide how to proceed, the notebook will contain a list of campaign or scenario specific log entries that you can select as well (which might count as spoilers). [br][br] Feel free to add some entries. When you have added all the entries you wish to add at this point, tap “No More Entries” to continue your adventure. You can now select the first scenario in your adventure. The “Next in Campaign” button will take you to the next scenario in the campaign while the “Other Scenario” will allow you to pick a side quest. [br][br] Side quests typically cost Experience to play and this will be deducted from the investigators who participate in the scenario. However, to allow you to house rule this, you will not be prevented from doing the scenario if you want to proceed. You may just end up with a negative Experience total. You will be given a chance to adjust your Experience as you feel appropriate at the end of the scenario. [br][br] Tap the “Next in Campaign” button to continue. A chance to log anything you want to remember from the scenario. A chance to add new investigators in case your previous investigators have dies, gone insane, or retired. After each scenario, you will be given an opportunity to adjust your investigator’s statistics. Most frequently, trauma and experience will automatically be correctly rewarded as part of the scenario resolution. However, this gives you the opportunity to make any adjustments that you see fit. It also allows you to keep track of the experience that you spend on new player cards. [br][br] Since this is a single-scenario campaign, the campaign will end when you select “Set”. In a longer campaign, you would probably select another scenario and continue. !!!!! Tutorial-1.scenario This is a first version of the Tutorial Scenario. It has the same campaign id and name as the second version. In this case, this is an exact copy of the second scenario, but it will show you what happens if you have multiple versions of a campaign, scenario, or investigator. You can eliminate versions that you do not use by clicking the Settings (gear) icon on the first screen and then Managing Campaigns, Scenarios, or Investigators. The first thing you will typically do in a scenario is choose which investigators will be encountering the scenario. You will not be able to proceed until you have chosen at least one investigator and selected a lead investigator. However, if there is only one campaign investigator, he or she will be automatically added. Scenario setup will take into account log entries and try to expose you to only those portions of setup which are relevant. Typically, this is where you learn how to set up the Encounter Deck and lay out the Location cards. You may be given a chance to add log items during the scenario. After completing the scenario, you will indicate the outcome for each investigator involved in the scenario. This is also where you will go through all of the steps associated with the scenario resolution. And you will be expected to record the points in the Victory Display. And finally, you will need to select the resolution of the scenario. [branch:No Resolution] [narrative] This is a particularly bad resolution.
